I love the nonviolent ways we’re seeing Renna try to break Egwene

Like telling her that she’s special when the white tower didn’t

Having her destroy the tree that brings her comfort with the one power so now the only thing that brings her comfort will be the feeling of using the one power

Now that Renna has broken her initially, I think we’ll see more of these coercive tactics as Egwene is ‘trained’

On the list of people I would never have been interested in, Renna’s near the top. Yet Xelia Mendes-Jones brought it. I am So Invested. This is what one woman has become in her native Seanchan culture. Power-hungry and mentoring and tempermental and brutal, all in the service of breaking another human. She’s been trained for this. You can tell. She’s good at it and she’s proud of that and I have never felt prouder of Egwene than when even Renna cracked - when her pride was damaged by Egwene’s steel.

This isn’t the face of a woman who feels like she’s won. This is the face of a woman who’s angry she couldn’t conquer the other person sooner.

Egwene may have broken for a single cup of water. But Renna broke her calm for it too.

Can we just take a second and talk about how good Renna’s actor (Xelia Mendes-Jones) is!? Cause like. The real genuine pain in their eyes in the first scene, when they knows Egwene is causing herself more pain? The simmering anger at the end? And that fake-soothing calm voice. Absolutely fucking phenomenal. He did such an amazing job of drawing out the layers of Seanchan propaganda and how someone can operate in that system.
